Performance Corner / MFP GarageHome of my 1970 mach 1 and its 1970 Ford showroom themed garage June 28 Vintage Dodge Challenger Original Showroom Window DisplayI have a rare original Challenger showroom window transparency poster available for the RIGHT 1970 Ford showroom display trade. It was sold along with an original Dodge Dart showroom window transparency. The color and design on it really pops! If anyone has the mach 1 showroom transparency from 1969/1970, that would be ideal as a straight trade. They don't make the type of ink these and the Ford ones were screenprinted with anymore. The modern inks have a stained glass see through appearance to them on transparency and won't come close.
I picked up the innards to a 1969 Ford Color & Trim binder that may be up for trades if the person I gave first dibs passes on it.
May 31 16mm 1970 Ford Mustang Commercial / Get "Hosed"Wanted: any 16mm or 35mm 1970 Ford Mustang or 1969 Going Thing group Mustang Commercial if anyone has them or can provide referrals. I'd like to upgrade from VHS quality. I was sad to learn Big Reel magazine is no longer in publication.
I picked up a neat Autosport collectible Shelby tie tack in a hobby trade - still in the blister pack. Also noted that 3/4 inch tubing is available now for those missing the tube between their evaporative emission "charcoal" cannister and their air cleaner / shaker base on 1970 California pollution control / evap emission equipped Mustangs. Shown is this new tube (aluminum) in contrast with the NOS rare one. One can always paint the aluminum tube black - it won't be concourse, but it will definitely make a great alternative to someone frustrated with finding and paying for a NOS one and be virtually identical in appearance. Cost?....$4.99
May 30 1970 Ford Sign / PlacardMay 09 Autolite Oil Filter Rack - Drag Club License FramePosting pix of a couple of acquisitions - a very nice Autolite Oil Filter rack and original California dealership Ford Drag Club metal license plate frame - only one I've ever seen. No doubt that dealership was serious about their Performance Corner, displays, meetings of performance buffs and possibly sponsorship.
April 25 1970 Mustang Brochure - South America (Brazil)Here is an interesting piece I'd not seen before in many years of surfing ebaY - a 1970 Mustang huge format brochure from Brazil. The model appears to be the same as used in the US as well as the lady near the red coupe. The GT model of car in the 2 page spread is an interesting variation - it has 70 mach 1 hood twist latches, call out cid #'s on the body color (weird not seeing it in black huh?) scoop and interesting stripe.
April 12 car Insurance Policy No Longer Covers For Nuclear BombsI just received an important notice booklet from State Farm...
Evidently, my car insurance policy no longer covers me from death or dismemberment as a result of a nuclear bomb or from being irradiated. Although this comes as a bit of a shock that should I be blown up by a multi-megaton thermonuclear device or irradiated by defective Chinese microwave ovens, microwave communication towers (even State Farms), gamma radiation pulses from black holes and the like, my CAR insurance will no longer cover this should I care to file a claim after having been blown up by such a device.
I don't quite know what to say. At least State Farm has not excluded coverage via death by aliens, supernatural beings, deities, hyperintelligent shades of the color blue, the voices in my head or solar flares whilst driving my car. Thanks State Farm!!! :-)
P.S. - why do I hear static on my phone line after publishing this blog entry containing words such as "thermonuclear", "megaton" and "bomb"?
April 11 Chrondek TreeI've been spending this weekend reviewing some rare historical Ford material and have found a few gems.
I'm not attending the Grand National show in Alabama this year (a few folks have asked). I'm staying pretty close to home due to orthopedic concerns, so my apologies to those I've been unable to travel to as of late. If anyone knows of a vintage Chrondek drag tree for sale within the vintage drag scene, please give me a shout at my hotmail account. My hotmail handle is mfpinterceptor. Everybody in the Mustang hobby please be good to each other in these stressful times. Truth often depends on perspective. This is a hobby and supposed to be fun!
I've got an extra copy of the 1970 Coronado publication Fabulous Mustang up for trades. It is chock full of rare 1970 mustang photos, stories and the like - including Trans-Am info. Guaranteed not to disappoint the 1970 Mustang afficiando.
